We’re looking for positive and enthusiastic people from all backgrounds and levels of experience to plan and lead activities for people of all ages in the diverse community we serve.

Recreation Program Members work all year and have flexible daytime, weeknight, and evening hours with some weekend opportunities. Work anywhere from 12 to 29 hours per week! We are seeking someone to work 3-4 mornings a week in our Preschool program as well as in our after school middle school program, Mondays- Thursdays from 3:00-5:00 pm during the school year. In addition, staff will be offered the opportunity to pick up additional hours on weekends with our special events.

Job Summary

In this job you will:

 

  • Work in a variety of recreation settings from special events, after school programs, preschool, seniors and more.
  • Plan, lead, and supervise activities for children, youth, and adults.
  • Organize the set up and take down of program materials and equipment
  • Request supplies and materials as needed
  • Answer questions and provide information to program participants and of the public
  • Work alone and as part of a team
  • Work under the supervision of recreation supervisors, programmers, and recreation specialists
  • Follow work direction and keep supervisor informed of any concerns
  • Administer basic first aid as needed – training provided!
  • Other duties as assigned

While no experience is needed for this job, you may be a great fit if you have:

 

  • One (1) or more years of experience working or volunteering with children, youth and/or adults. Examples could include babysitting, VBS teacher or volunteer, youth sports coach, etc.
  • Participated in activities, sports, clubs, or other groups
  • A valid driver's license
  • CPR and First Aid Certifications
  • Completed concussion training (Training is available on-line at https://www.nays.org/nyscaonline/preview/concussion-training.com)
  • Availability to work a variety of hours throughout the year
