    Job Summary

    Building Attendant I
    Seasonal, Fall 2019 (September - May)
    Pay starts at $10.305 per hour, DOQ
    Up to 20 hours per week - evenings/weekends
    The City of Eagan is hiring Building Attendants for Fall, 2019!
    Building Attendants are responsible for the cleanliness, safety and security of the Eagan Civic Arena and its users.  Main duties include monitoring public skating sessions, operating the concessions area and maintaining cleanliness during and after events.  The Building Attendant must respond to the needs and concerns of all guests using the facility in a courteous, informed and enthusiastic manner.  Typical hours of this position is evenings during the week and weekends (up to a maximum of 20 hours per week) from September through May. Employees are generally assigned 3 shifts per week. Shifts are 4-6 hours on average, dependent on business need.

    Essential Position Duties and Responsibilities: 
    • Assist Manager on Duty to maintain a clean and safe environment for all guests at the Eagan Civic Arena and surrounding grounds
    • Assist facility guests as required;  responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  preparing food in the concessions, on-ice skating, facilitating birthday parties and group rentals
    • Set-up, take-down and monitors building usage
    • Operate cash register
    • Accept payment of fees; cash, checks and credit card when working at the concession stand/office
    • Deposits and receipts money associated with concessions/office
    • Preparation and selling of concession food items
    • Enforce Eagan Civic Arena policies and all standards put forth by OSHA and the State Health Department
    • Assist in inventory of concession supplies and products
    • Perform light maintenance including, but not limited to: room set-up and take-down, general cleaning (windows, floors, spills, tables, chairs, vacuum carpeted areas, clean surfaces in rest rooms and locker rooms, restock paper products, pick up outside litter and snow removal when needed)
    • Assist in any recreational program, activities, and city-wide events as assigned
    • Abide by the employee expectations set for by the Eagan Civic Arena
    • Remain courteous and sincere in all relations and matters dealing with the general public using the building
    • Perform other duties as assigned


    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Must be at least 16 years of age

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Past experience working in a paid position
    • Some cash register experience preferred
    • Past experience in food preparation
    • Ability to ice skate

    Physical Demands:

    • Must be able to life/move up to 50 pounds
    • Must be able to shovel or sweep snow in the wintertime
    • Employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk and hear
    • Employee may be asked to work with cleaning equipment and cleaning agents
